1000 Litre Stubby Slimline Water Tank

Stubby is just a friendly word for a tank that sits low and squat. It holds 1,000 litres, which is one cubic metre, or about ten big water butts. The body is still slim from front to back, so it tucks against a wall. What changes is the height, which is noticeably lower than a standard slimline tank.

What people use it for

Low and squat suits tight spots, like under a window or beneath a low roof edge. Plenty of people tuck one behind a shed, where the gutter sits close to the ground. Gardeners fill watering cans from it and keep beds, pots, and greenhouses going in summer. Allotment holders and small growers use theirs the same way, often with two linked together. Some people also use it to wash cars, rinse boots, and clean patios.

The good points

A low tank sits steadier, because its weight stays close to the ground. Empty tanks can blow over in strong wind, and a squat shape helps with that. The lid sits at a comfortable height, so checking and cleaning is easy. Rainwater costs nothing, so your bill drops during long dry spells.

The honest bits

A lower tank means a lower tap, so a tall watering can may not fit underneath. Raising it on a strong base fixes that and gives the water better flow. A full tank weighs about one tonne, so soft ground and loose slabs won't cope. Roof water is not safe to drink, even when it looks clear. Check the box too, because many tanks arrive without a tap, filter, or downpipe kit. Frost can crack a full tank, so leave some room inside through winter. Look it over on arrival as well, since scuffs and cracks happen in transit.

If you run a shop

Garden centres, builders' merchants, and farm shops sell these steadily, especially in spring. Plenty of customers have low gutters, so a stubby tank answers a real question. Buying through a wholesale distributor usually brings your cost per unit down. You also get straight answers about size, fittings, and how the pallets are loaded. Tanks are light when empty but bulky, so ask about freight before ordering.

That's all we do really: tell you what we have, ship it, and let you decide.
